Week 2

This week the students were working hard to show Ms Sutherland and Miss Garthwaite what they could do. We started learning about the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly. The students really impressed with Ms Sutherland with how well they were learning to follow the class routines.

This year we are a Health Promoting School and we have 'Fruit in School'. This we week for morning tea we had bananas and oranges. The oranges were super juicy and yummy. The students made a graph that showed which fruits which they like the best.

This year we are also a Duffy School and on Tuesday morning it was exciting to see what books the students selected for Term 1. This is a great way of getting more great books in our homes and promote reading. I love reading and I love hearing the stories Ms S reads the Junior Learning Team.

On Thursday evening we had a 'Welcome Back BBQ'. It was great to see so many families along to have tea together and talk about 2010 at Pine Hill School.

When we were walking around the classes at the 'Welcome Back BBQ' we noticed that Pixie was getting ready to go into a chrysalis to start turning in to a butterfly. Pixie hung in a fish hook shape all the time we were at school on Friday. On Monday when we got to school Pixie was in a beautiful chrysalis.

I got to go home with someone new this weekend and had a great time.

Our First Week Back

Wow! What an amazing class the Junior Learning Team are.

This week the students were busy making their own personal label for their tables, browsing boxes and trays. They also made 'Me' books to introduce themselves to each other and their new teachers. The students drew amazing pictures of themselves too.

The best part about being the Junior Learning Team's mascot is that every Friday I get to go home with the Star of the Week. This weekend I get to go home with Laura.

Introducing Pixie, Stripy and Tiger

We decided to name our three Monarch Caterpillars Pixie, Stripy and Tiger. The Junior Learning Team and I are excited to be learning about them and how they will change into Monarch Butterflies.

Introducing Annie and Diamond

We decided as a team to name our two beautiful fish Diamond and Annie. We found out that Diamond is a Black Moor Goldfish and Annie is a Shubunkin Goldfish. They both seem very happy swimming around in their tank in the Junior Learning Team's classroom.

Introducing Crocodile, Boat and Charlie

Tyla brought along three tadpole's to school for us to watch turn into frogs. We are looking forward to watching them change into frogs.

Getting ready for 2010

I have been working hard helping Ms Sutherland setting up for The Junior Learning Team for days now. It was hard work but the class room is looking great.
Today we bought two fish and a swan plant with teeny tiny monarch caterpillars on it. I am looking forward to finding out what the class will decide to call our fish and our caterpillars.

I can't wait to meet the rest of The Junior Learning Team tomorrow.

Check out the cool pictures of me setting up the classroom and planning.
